You let them go,
You watch them leave.
For a moment,
Time stands still.
You remember
The tiny boy
Who held onto you
For strength
On the happy days,
The sad days,
The every days,
The no-reason days.
You let them go,
You watch them fly.
Pockets of cloud
To navigate around.
Love, hope, resilience,
Gifts you gave,
A compass
To steer through life.
Sunday evening dinner,
Their own retreat.
Proof that letting go
Still brings them home.
